Below is a list of frequently asked questions and answers which many of our patrons have asked when enquiring about Pilbara TAFE’s library service.

These might help answer some of your own questions. If your question is not answered here, please contact us via Ask a Librarian and we will respond as soon as possible.

What are the Library’s opening hours?

The opening hours for each library are detailed on each library’s web page. Please click on the name of your local library to check its opening hours.

How do I join the library?

To join any of the libraries need to produce some identification which includes your name and your current local address e.g. current driver’s license, Health Care or Pension concession card, Western Power or Telstra accounts. Students may bring their enrolment form.

A Library card is issued for each member and can be used at all Shire of Roebourne libraries.

Replacement cards - $2.20

What can I borrow?

You may borrow 8 items for 2 weeks.

You cannot borrow without your library card.

How do I renew my books?

Items may be renewed twice; unless the item has been reserved by another patron. Please contact your local library by phone or in person to renew your items.

Newman Wednesday 10.30am (Gumnuts story time for 0-3years, Tuesday 10.30am)

Are overdue items fined?

Overdue items fines can apply. Your Library will inform you of any monies owed.

What happens if I lose or damage an item?

Lost or damaged items will incur a replacement charge. Please do not attempt to repair books yourself.

Do you have information on the local area?

Yes, Karratha Community Library houses the Pilbara Collection and the Shire of Roebourne’s Local History Office is located in Karratha Community Library.

Can I borrow from another library?

If you need to read a book that is not available at your local library, please complete a Request Form – available at the Enquiries Desk of your library. Staff will request the item from another library either in the local area or from elsewhere in the State.

How do I reference my assignment?

Please ask your local Librarian for assistance with referencing assignments. They can show you different styles that are available according to the subject you are studying and direct you to online guides which can show you step-by-step how to reference accurately; or Ask A Librarian.
