TAFE response assists workers in crisis

Pilbara TAFE has launched a training advice response team, specifically for workers facing possible retrenchment in the financial downturn.

Managing Director Barry McKnight says individuals who have recently been retrenched or those who are worried about their job security should contact their nearest campus for a one-on-one consultation.

"Our experienced professionals will provide advice on how you can improve your existing skills, gain whole new skill sets or have your skills formally recognised through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)," said Barry.

"These alternatives can significantly enhance your job security in uncertain times and provide you with real options for re-employment."

"For those who don't have formal certification but have years of on-the-job experience, you should contact our Recognition of Prior Learning Coordinator who will assist you in the RPL process of mapping your work and life skills to a nationally recognised qualification."

For employers who are in the difficult position of retrenching workers and require training advice for personnel, Barry advocates contacting him directly or Director Training Colin Crocker.
